A totally Christian Church
Come and see what God has done; His awesome deeds for us! Psalm 66:5
17th Feb 2019
This week, Col reflects on Life at the River:
This week the Lord gave two words, on Sunday and Wednesday, quite independently, which fitted closely together to make a larger picture. On Sunday, we were encouraged to be certain of our faith – confident and sure of where we stand in God. On Wednesday, we were led through scripture looking at what it teaches us about hope.
One of the most important things about scriptural hope (as opposed to worldly “hope”) is that it is certain, because of Who it is based in. We love it when the Lord takes us on, one step at a time. Those words are taking root in our hearts this week and will bring forth fruit.
We held the first of our Alpha series this week, for new believers and those exploring their faith. The group enjoyed the new DVDs which have been updated and slightly shortened from the original Alpha series. We know that the group will be greatly helped as they discover God’s love for them in new ways, and catch hold of His plan for them. It’s not too late to join next Wednesday!!
The same DVDs were used with our Youth Group on Thursday night. We anticipate lives changed and young faith brought to maturity as a result.
It was lovely to welcome our friends from the Torch Trust, who used our premises this week for their meeting. This is an important ministry, encouraging the faith of those who are partially sighted. They’re a lovely bunch of people!
At the time of writing, we’re looking forward to our monthly Prayer for Israel meeting on Friday. All part of God’s engagement with us here at the River!!
